where i'm a freak of nature when it comes to double checking the car & the car problems before investing such amounts in a car (yes people of the world from countries not named Egypt , this cost an arm & a leg over here )
buying a car before was easy.. engine requirement , it's surely a sedan in case you need to carry people or luggage
there was no ABS , EBD , Hill Assist & all those nice gadgets to play with
now the game has changed & #Egypt the last couple of years caught up with the world #SUV craze
things gets a lot tricky when you're actually buying this for your spouse because the shape of the interior , the car look & the color all play a role
now if you are looking to invest below the 500K (around 30K USD ) there is little choice (believe it or not )
noting i'm not looking for those tiny crossover cars like #Nissan _Juke or #Renault _Capture & #FORD_ecosport
first thing you do you exclude the Chinese cars , not because they are not beautiful ...on the contrary
the Chinese done a great job is copying the #Volkswagen _Tiguan , #BMW & the #Porsche you'll find a hard time knowing which is which
but because of reliability , i've seen a video where the Chinese car #Brilliance was checked after 150.000 KM and the rust was all over it , hidden & exposed areas... & since it's my loved one so the Chinese is a no-go .. (they will be there in few years.. this is the exact baby steps Kia & Hyundai did before )
Up you go to the 400.000 range simply because all the car authorized dealer (Except for #FORD ) have the tendency of making their network of showrooms & care dealers charge you an extra 20.0000 to get your car now (Step up #Nissan_Egypt , #Kia_Egypt #Hyundai_Egypt , #Renault_Egypt)
you start with the brilliant looking #Fiat X500 ... an absolute beauty until you decide you will travel for anything more than 48 hours & you actually need to carry a bag. that's when you get shell shocked that the luggage is smaller than any Hatchback I've seen before
you move to it's box shaped sister the #Jeep_renegade .. the only difference between them is just the logo & the car shape both cars play withing the range of 420-440 & thankfully no much what the Egyptians call "Overprice " that said if you are single with all heart go for the X500 however Jeep after the owner complained has decided to go down with the spare parts price
Who thought that having two cars both made in FIAT factory in Italy , both using the same engine & Spare part one had the brakes costing 1200 the other 6000 ? (Give or take ) but again a chapeau to #Jeep for adjusting the price
right there you will find one of the best cars in this category the #Subaru_XV a car proven to be reliable & it's off road capability is amazing , quite big for 4 big adults & nice luggage ... the only area it lets you down is the actual shape of the car
why the #Japanese & #Korean love the metal so much they use it everywhere ? those shiny metal all around a dark car is as ugly as it gets...
Subaru in particular need to keep the same engine & engineers & hire an Italian car designer because somebody thought changing the shape from an SUV to more of a hatchback in the new XV was a good idea ...dub
Subaru XV has invaded the country without a single problem couple of years now so a well done is in order for the #Nipon giant ,
on the contrary you will see the #Mitsubishi_Eclipse ... i really don't know what hallucination drug they had when they designed than approved it ? one look at the car back & that's all it takes
pity because at one time #Mitsubishi was THE Car when you looked for reliability but this is not the 90's engine alone don't sell
upwards the two twins ... #Renault_Kadjar & #Nissan_Qashqai both companies left their fans to the greed of the car showrooms to take as much as 20K extra per car...
both guilty of announcing a price that you can never find & a category that is always not there just the higher categories .
to add insult to injury after a great comeback for the #Renault brand in the last few years they decided that the #Kadjar is worthy of a #BMW_X1 like spare parts prices... even going above their twin the Nissan Qashqai by a big margin
the Japanese /English sister wasn't far off with so many people complaining of both engine , gearbox & turbo going bust & general anger for the what was once a reliable authorized dealer to a "Stay away " name
both cars are not problem free , there is a general rattling sound from the interior & the engine in some cars & it doesn't help that #Renault starting to act with an ego of a car king
the remaining car beside those that you can get & i mean really get is the #SEAT_Ateca .. 5 star rating in most car review magazine & sites basically an affordable #Volkswagen_Tiguan made in the #Skoda factory in the Czech republic
the car has anything you can hope for in terms of space , huge trunk , options , engine... but somehow there is a tiny little engineer in #Volkswagen group who decided to pass on the infamous DSG gearbox the 7 speed dry DQ200 ... of course we all heard that it improved etc but seriously Egypy is a country that the first impression last why would you do that ? the car starts from 470K & a real value for money if you can trust #Volkswagen & above all deal with the same authorized dealer which had plenty of rough years with the Volkswagen problems all thrown at him & he didn't act wisely in most parts which affected the German giants reputation ( to be fair Volkswagen did screw up everywhere )
the only two remaining cars that i shouldn't even mention are the #Kia_Sportage & #Hyundai_Tucson both claim to be in the starting range of 450 & 470 good luck in finding those or wait for several month on Uber
Now both #Kia & #Hyundai left their local authorized dealer do what he wants so asking for an ABS in a Kia car is usually an option.. the car comes with one airbag... one freaking airbag... thankfully all of them now have an ABS (in layman terms something to make your brakes function better ) but if you ask for an ESP which is a must for high cars to give it stability in maneuvers or hill assist to help you go those steep Garage in a mall you have to just buy the high end !!! it doesn't need a rocket scientist to know that none of those types can be sold in Europe except the high end because it's unsafe so please don't gamble with your loved ones life unless that's your initial plan... :)
Hyundai same story ...so i won't repeat it
above the 500 you start to have the PROPER Cars from the amazing #Peugeot_5008 only downside that it's now part of Mansour dealer.. the same guy who made #Opel a runaway car due to the price of the spare parts to what i believe is the best in its category the #FORD_Kuga.. sadly the Kuga is out of my reach financially otherwise you are buying not just a great car that has everything but the best authorized dealer in Egypt #AutoJameel with the owner Abdel Latif Jameel the Toyota man in the Gulf region has opened up doors for Ford with excellent after-sale , cheap spare parts ( yes people Ford focus for example is cheaper than your safety-less #Kia & #Mazda ) and really zero issues especially after #Ford Ditched the DSG & went to normal automatic ..
add to that the Ecoboost is engine of the year for several years now
above the 700K you have plenty of stuff the Honda , the Mazda , the BMW .. although worth noting don't be fooled by the phrase German Engineering
as per reliability survey.. the last time this was right was in the 70's ...70's
so here is my round up after observing the market ... if you need an advise drop me a note
